I've decided to have a black and white colorways this Christmas, starting with the advent calendar.
25 small buckets (at most dollar stores, Target dollar area or Oriental Trading)
spray paint (if not the right color)
white tissue paper
Download number pdf file. Cut tissue paper into 8 1/2 x 11" piece (make several) and layer it on top of a piece of copy paper. Tape the two together along one short side. This will help the copy machine to "grab" the papers. Place the number file on the copy bed and hand feed the tissue paper sandwich. You will need to do several of these to get a clean copy of each number as copy machines don't usually like to print on tissue paper. (at least mine doesn't) Use a copy machine since ink jet prints will bleed when the glue is applied.
Carefully tear out each tissue paper number. Apply glue on the bucket and place tissue number. Cover with more glue to seal.
Use tiny brads to hang the buckets then fill with goodies.
Tear, don't cut around the numbers for a feathered edge. This edge is less noticeable than a cut one.
The thin tissue blends into the bucket when glued on, making for a integral look rather than an applied one.
