Love is Where the Home Is

Among my stash of scrap leather are some pieces of red. The finished sides are rich, dark, almost burgundy colored. The backsides, however, are bright reds and pinks that are perfect for a Valentine's Day craft.
Cut a pattern out of cardstock. Mine is 1 1/2" long by 1 1/4" wide. Fold in half and cut out the heart shape paying attention to the "cleavage". You want somewhat of a deep one. (don't we all?)

I cut out 10 identical hearts and one the same width and contours but with a longer point to accommodate the slit for the button clasp.  Make a slit in the longer heart before you sew the hearts together. You will need to use a leather or denim needle in your sewing machine. Sew the hearts overlapping the rounded lobes rather than the points - it will look more like a bracelet of hearts when you are finished.  Don't overlap the longer heart as much as the others. You want the slit to be free. Make two small holes in the top heart and with a thin piece of lacing cut from one of the pieces, tie on a cute button. I just happened to have this pewter house in my stash.
Feed the button through the slit and you can wear your heart on your sleeve wrist.

Oh my! So cute! I think I know where I can lay my hands on a handful of leather scraps that would be perfect for this.
You linked to Suzy's Sitcom right after I did. (I'm #18, the Fun Felt Toys) Perfect timing because I'm absolutely going to make one of these! I'll be checking out more of your posts.
