I'm awash with photos and blame my digital camera. I can't put them all in albums so I search out new and different ways to use them. What better way to use them than place them on the tops of boxes?
Resize a photo to fit the top of the box. Print. Copy the photo with a copy machine. Slightly darker copies seem to work a bit better than light ones. (the photo on the left is from a computer printer. The one on the right is a copy from a copy machine) *note - this transfer will only work with a black and white copy, not a computer print.
Cut two adjacent sides of the photo the exact size of the box top. This will help to position the photo. Cut the other two sides about 1/2 larger than the box. Place the photo, face down on the top of the box and tape the photo on the two longer sides. Place the tape along the sides rather than the top of the box as it will melt if it comes in contact with the iron. The photo won't shift but you will be able to lift the image on the two untaped sides to see if it has transferred.
Heat the iron as hot as it will go and pass it back and forth along the back of the photo. The paper will scorch. Lift the paper from time to time to see if it has transferred. If the paper sticks, reheat and lift off. This will take a few minutes.
