I'm doing this tutorial just to show you a trick I use to make my artwork and crafts look better. I can't tell you how many times I've looked at one of my paintings and hated it until I do this one last thing.
I had a few picture mats that had seen better days and some heavily textured handmade paper. The operative word here is "textured".
I cut the paper into random squares and glued them to the mat with Elmer's glue.
Then I picked 4 different colors and painted them randomly on the squares. Don't be too concerned about painting within the lines as it will look good in the end. Sloppiness will be forgiven.
My secret trick? Brown shoe polish. Slather it on and buff it off. It mellows everything and makes those bright colors work together. I hope you can find an application for this. You'll love it.
This blog contains instructions to make crafts that don't require special skills or expensive materials yet result in professional looking items that you can use or proudly give as gifts. I will add a new post each week. All the instruction and downloads are completely free. Enjoy!
