I don't know about you, but I always plan my parties from the dessert. If I have a yen for a rich dessert, then dinner has to be on the light side and vice versa. I'm not proud of this but at least you know where my priorities lie. In this case, it had to be cookies, but not any ordinary cookies. Okay, ordinary sugar cookies but presented in a new way.
Fold along the scribed edge and burnish the fold with the handles of the scissors.
While this in no way as strong as a commercial cutter, it is sturdy enough to make dozens and dozens of cookies. I rolled out my sugar cookie dough on the baking sheet and pressed the cutter into the dough, removing anything that wasn't a cookie.
In the meantime, I soaked some bamboo skewers in water and green food coloring to use as stems.
I made some icing with butter, powdered sugar and a drop of milk, separating it into several different bowls and adding a different food coloring to each. The centers are something called "gummy raspberries" I found at CVS. Dollar store gum balls are used as the vase filler.
Now tell me that you'd forget that I served you soup and salad if I gave you this for dessert. Oh, and it could be the centerpiece as well.
