Real Cheap (Maybe Free) Light Box

Make yourself a very cheap light box with items you probably already own.

Materials:
small cardboard box
small flashlight
two matching picture frames
white paper

Remove the glass from one frame and the backing from another. Sandwich the paper between the two pieces of glass and place them back into one of the frames. Bend the fasteners back in place or use tape to secure the glass into the frame.
Turn on a flashlight and put in the cardboard box. Put the frame on top then sit back and count the money you saved.

This is awesome! Now I have ABSOLUTELY no excuse not to start etching every piece of glass I own. ;-)

I think a tap light might work even better than a regular flashlight, if you happen to have one.

I found a "previously owned" Lite Brite at a second hand store and wanted to make it into a light box. When I saw your picture frame idea using two pieces of glass the "Light" went on in my head. If I take out the backing where you put the lights into it the one frame that I already had fits into it nicely. With a bit of duct tape on each side it will hold it in place. I plan to try using tracing paper between the two pieces of glass. Thanks for you idea!!!

Wow -- what an innovative idea! I have held off from buying a lightbox for ages because I couldn't find an affordable one. I'm totally making this, stat!
